Attention Warriors From: Jason Anderson RE: Awesome Affiliate Cloaking Trick (White Hat), that you can do for FREE! Obviously, the Warrior Forum is a great place to get a lot of ideas to help you with your online business...what ever it is. So, in the same spirit, here's a tip for you that won't cost a dime and is easy to put in place if you manage your own website. How To Keep Visitors On Your Site While Directing Them To An UNKNOWN URL Why would you want to hide a URL? Well, simply put, you could lose commissions if a cookie, or tracking session is lost when visitor tries to revisit your affiliate link. Or, if the affiliate site that you are directing traffic to has a catchy, easy to remember name, your visitors may just go directly to the site at a later time. If they erased their cookies...you lost a sale and didn't even know it. Don't assume that your visitors will always use your affiliate link. Sometimes it's accidental, others it's for malicious reasons. What ever the reason is...why risk losing commissions on your promotion efforts? Better yet, why direct visitors away from your site if you don't have to? Rather than explaining what I mean, I think I'll just show you. Look at the example below. The site will pop up in it's own box and the URL will NOT change giving away your affiliate link. Did you see what happened? Now, click the link again. This time notice that no website address changed in the browser. You stayed right here on my site. You can use this technique to show images on your site as well. Take a look at the flower example below: It doesn't need to just be a link either. You could show a thumbnail and have it open up with the same effect. Just click the thumbnail below to see what I mean. This example shows a mini-site example page. If you are a graphic designer, you could showcase your portfolio this way. Or if you have physical items for sale on your website, you could show a thumbnail of it and allow your visitor to see a larger image of the item without having them leave your page. A Free Script Allows You To Do This Plus Much More Thanks to a discussion I had on the Warrior Forum, I was able to find this script and put it to use. http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=187041 The person who turned me on to this was a Warrior with the user name: Evita Thanks Evita!! Mike Ambrosio gave me an idea to use it to show PDF's as well. So I decided to use a PDF I had on my hard drive that I received from Josh Anderson some time ago. It's called the "Online Marketing Parachute" Click Here To See PDF (600x600 pixels)The nice thing about this script is that you can also change the dimensions of the display box if you want. Click here to see the same PDF in a larger box. (900x600 pixels) Pretty cool...huh? So I just wanted to give back to the forum a little by putting this demo page up for any interested Warriors. Hope you get something out of this. Here's the Script: http://www.jasonandersononline.com/promo/GreyBox_v5_53.zip Jason Anderson P.S.
